The SC Leather Contest 2011 Wrap Up
Hey folks,
You know! So much happened over the weekend, and I have looked at the video a few times trying to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Here is the official news from The SC Leather Contest 2011. But, you will either have to read the whole thing or just skip to the bottom to see who won what. And, let me say, I may forget someone, so please excuse me if I do.
Ms Jan, the Vice Director, several others, and I met at the hall at 9am. Niko and James, who manage the hall, had morning pastries set up, raising money for Special Olympics. If anyone needs to rent the space, you can get in touch directly with them at 803.212.8338 for information. Thanks to them for having us.
They also had snacks, soft drinks, hot dogs, and burgers for lunch.
We got the stage, sound, table, and chairs set up, food put away, or getting ready.
Vendors started showing up and setting up. Tandy Leather Factory, Lifestyle Wood & Leather, and OWhips. We also had Steve's Saddlebag Studio, taking photos of folks in their own attire of choice.
More volunteers showed up. Including Mark L, to serve soft drinks til 6pm then it would be cocktails for the evening. Syr Tia and her andrew, who helped by setting up the original website, and missed lat year, made this year and helped again. Of course, most of Ms Jan's family was there as well. Ms. Theresa, who was to be our security for the evening, had surgery on her ankle (?), and could not be with us. We hope she recovers quickly.
The Judges who had the tough job of helping decide, our title candidates' future, showed up; Evil Geoff; Nefarious - Mr. SELF 2009; Pat R - 2010 Bootblack, Dan C - 2010 Mr.; boy dave - SE Leather Bootblack 2011; and Lady Beth.
Contestants came in, and got settled in for the day. Running for Ms. SC Leather - Paige; for Mr. SC Leather - Baran Y; for SC Leather boy - boi andy; and for SC Leather girl - kimberli.
Ms. Jan and I talked to the contestants and then to the judges about our expectations for a person to be a SC Leather community representative.
Our judge's boy was gordon H, Den Momma was Ms. Tori, and Tally Master, Phantom Blue.
Without all these folks, I could not get this done, and I am glad to have all their help. Thank you all.
Before the doors opened to the public, the judges interviewed each of the contestants individually. This is the judge's first chance to assess the candidates, and for them to impress the judges.
12 pm. Doors open for the day, and angel is our door lady, greeting all the folks coming in to support the event. I thank her.
boy nathan, contest assistant and Kitchen Manager, went to the kitchen and took care of things there. On occasion, he would pop his head out and say hello, but until dinner was served, he was making sure we had food for our folks.
We had jackie, offering bootblack services for the day. And, after a few folks had shown up, since the judges had not finished their interviews, we casually introduced the contestants and judges and some staff that were present. April was on hand to take video of the entire day. Thanks go to her.
We thanked our sponsors, vendors, those in attendance, presenters, advertisers, like the Leather History Conference, and the management of the hall, etc.
Our first presenter to get things started is Angel Propps, Ms SELF 2011, with "submission versus Surrender". Despite dealng with an ear infection, she muddled through and was well received.
Our own Mr. SC Leather, Dan C followed with "Electricity" and some Mind Fuck thrown in. April was the lucky shock victim. Giggling most of the time.
About this time, our SC Leather Bootblack 2010, pat R, was not feeling good. It seems she had attained her Sir's brand the night before. Ouch!
Our last demo for the afternoon was with Dragos and the Violet Wand. And, assisting him was jackie. Both Dan amd Dragos lit upt the room with electricity.
After this were 2 raffle drawings, one for an official coroner's body bag. Evil Geoff won this, so Ms Tori may want to be watchful, lol.
pat stuck it out until about dinnertime, but could not recover, so Steve (Saddlebag Studio), took her out, and left, to tend to her. Join me in wishing pat all our good thoughts. Love you pat.
Dinner was as Southern pulled pork, with buns, baked beans, and Ms. Jan's coleslaw. For dessert, was a mini cake and ice cream dessert bar, with assorted toppings. Several folks asked about the coleslaw and pork. And no one commented on the Bush's baked beans, hmm.
After dinner, we had as our guest speaker, Lady Beth, recipient or the 2011
Sammi Schulz,
SC Leather Leadership award.
We ended with the Parade of Colors, and had reps from; Bootblack Brigade, CSRA Leather Bears, House of Decorum, MAsT, SELF, Tarheels Leather Club, Tradesmen, Tri River Guardians and our self, The SC Leather Contest.
We kicked off the evening events with introduction of the contestants, again, running were, for Ms. SC Leather - Paige; for Mr. SC Leather - Baran Y; for SC Leather boy - boi andy; and for SC Leather girl - kimberli. For some this was more nerve racking than for others.
This was followed by the dreaded Question from the Judges. The judges, each submits two questions. One a favorite question of the judges, the other, the one they hate being asked. Only the judges know what their two are. The contestants draw one from a bucket, at random. Their wit & knowledge comes in handy here. Again, this can be difficult and it can be fun.
More thank you's to sponsors and our advertisers again, followed by formal introductions of the judges and staff. Evil Geoff; Nefarious - Mr. SELF 2009; Pat R - 2010 Bootblack, Dan C - 2010 Mr.; boy dave - SE Leather Bootblack 2011; and Lady Beth. Judge's boy, gordon H, Den Momma, Ms. Tori, and Tally Master, Phantom Blue.
Angel Propps, Ms SELF 2011 entertained us with recreating her winning fantasy for SELF. Thank you so much. A hot grinding segment intended to heat up her Daddy OB.
Next was the speeches, by each contestant, and of course they all hoped for world peace! No, they gave short speeches on what they would do or be able to do, as the titleholder. Each one was received well.
After a short break came the main event, the fantasies segment. The contestants had to perform a short skit that could be funny, serious, shocking, educational, etc. Our contestants chose to do one as a mishap while serving dinner to Mistress. Another was audience participation. A naughty little girl wanted everything she saw in the toy store. Finishing up with the teaching of a future Master, how to flog. The audience enjoyed them all.
Now, who won? The contestants are waiting for the judges to turn in the ballots. The Tally Master will enter the numbers into our super-high-tech, sophisticated tally sheet, developed specially by a well-known, highly respected panel of mathematicians in a think tank. Well, actually, I have a friend who teaches Math at USC.
It is also pointed out that the producers and judges, talked earlier and have agreed to separate the two titles, Mr/Ms & boy/girl titles into four titles total and the potential is, four new SC titleholders. Mr., Ms., girl & boy. The contestants still need to meet a point minimum to qualify, so we could have one or more title not won. What is the verdict?
While waiting for the results, Dan C, recreates his fantasy from 2010, as a first time meeting between 2 who claim more than they really know. It was original and funny.
Drum roll, please. Oh, wait! Our Tally Master, Blue, a gender queer male, has an announcement. Apparently, our Mr., contestant asked to be disqualified, due to his dick being bigger than Blue's. Although it is pointed out, that Blue's is always hard.
OK, The SC Leather Contest 2011 Winners are;
SC's first ever - SC Leather girl, kimberli
SC's second ever - SC Leather boy, boi andy
SC's first ever - Ms. SC Leather - Paige C
SC's third ever - Mr. SC Leather - Baran Y
Congratulations to all four, watch for their info on our website soon. They will be available for demos and other outreach to all SC clubs and organizations.
Thank you too all who helped, attended and help in any way. Without you, this could not happen. If I missed anyone, forgive me. There was a lot to remember.
Take care,
Master Regi-
Director, The SCLC |
Colors/Logo Contest Winner.
We asked the public to submite their ideas to create our contest colors, we received and accepted many designs and asked the public to choose the final design from 9 choices, submitted by 4 folks.
(Colors Designed by Ann Goodpet)
After an online public voting it was the general consensus of our website visitors that the one seen at the left and top of each page was the favorite.
Submitted by Ann Goopet, former T3WD member, was notified and replied with the following message.
"I am pleased to have been told that my design was voted and accepted as The South Carolina Leather Contest logo. I currently live in the DC metro area and have been here for 5 years after moving here from South Carolina. I am an alumni of Master Taino's Slave Academy, member of MAsT, Black Rose, staff at The Crucible. While I am active in the local community here in the DC area, I still identify my home group as being T3WD.
I have been in service to Master Griffin for 3 1/2 years and am in the majordomo position in our household. We are part of Castle Griffin, an education and service household established in 2006 to benefit and serve the leather community.
My idea for the logo came from combing the tradistional Leather flag colors with the SC state flag. The White background was chosen since many of the patches and pins will be worn on black clothes or leathers it will help the logo stand out better.
